This week’s guest on The Financial Planner Life podcast is Jessamy Walker, a Chartered Financial Planner and MD of Brown Dog Financial Planning. Jessamy shares her career journey from counting sea urchins as a marine biologist in Kenya, to working as a Stockbroker in the city and eventually running her own financial planning practice. Jessamy has vast experience of working within financial planning in varying roles, starting out as what she describes as a “posh paraplanner” and eventually taking the leap into financial advice in the pre RDR world. What I like about Jessamy is that she wasn’t afraid to take risks in her career. She is always looking to try something new and expand her knowledge and experience. We cover: Why being an appointed representative is the right choice for Jessamy. The negatives of being self-employed under someone else’s brand. The benefits of Financial Planners investing in SEO to help attract new clients. How reaching out to other financial planners will help you grow quicker. Paraplanning and administration support: is this the best route to financial planning? The benefits of being part of a network, and outsourcing ASAP! |
