Its one of those things that is and always will be viewed differently by different people. What some might call selfish others will look at as their personal fight for survival and taking themselves as their number one priority in life simply put.
There is no right or wrong answer. One thing that is important to bear in mind is the fact that all of your morals and values should be of your own thought and action, and not that of others forced upon yourself.
