He is the first of the four mujtahid Imams whose School survived to our time and acquired the greatest following among the Sunni Schools. He is known as "The Greatest Imam" (al-Imam al-a'zam). "Love of Abu Hanifa is part of the Sunna" - Muhammad ibn Khazim al-Taymi al-Sa'di al-Kufi (d. 195)
