This week there is no Follow Up, so the chaps can plough straight into the new News. JANUARY 2018 NEW CAR REGISTRATIONSNew car registrations are down, with diesel being particularly hard hit. EMISSION DEFEAT DEVICES TO BE FINEDThe Government has announced that emission defeat devices will be open to 'unlimited fines', in the future. This would not have done anything to #DieselGate. ULTRA LOW EMISSION ZONE TO RAKE THE CASH INFigures from Transport for London and SMMT, which are not the same, show that between 500,000 and 1.6 million vehicles will be charged when entering the ULEZ. SPEEDING ZERO TOLERANCE PROPOSEDThe head of the National Police Chiefs Council for roads has made a speech stating there should be zero tolerance for speeding. The principle is sound, the limit is there for a reason. However, the tolerance side of things makes this a foolish step. To read more click the Autocar article here. CAR TO GRID SCHEME ANNOUNCEDNissan and the Government have announced the biggest UK car to grid scheme. This will allow EV owners to store locally or put electricity into the National Grid system and get paid for it. To read more click the Autocar article here. RENAULT CUTS WARRANTYRenault has announced that they're cutting their warranty from four years to three. The chaps are very confused at this move. GÉRALD WELTER HAS DIEDGérald Welter, who is the father of the Peugeot 205, has died. There have been some lovely memories of him being shared on Twitter. WALES ALLOWS CLOSED ROAD RACINGWales has changed their law to allow closed road racing. The obvious choice for some of that action would be the Rally GB. BLUETOOTH NEARLY STOPS RECORD-BREAKING DRIFTThe trickiest part of the record-breaking BMW M5 constant drifting was not drifting, not trying to go to the toilet, not refuelling but the Bluetooth connectivity.
