Description:

I've been in Disney World Florida for two weeks, and today in part 1 I'm talking about a bit of history and the original vision for Walt Disney World.

The scale of it all
  • $1000 a day average popcorn stand in peak season
  • Spend around $1,000,000 a day on fireworks
Interesting design points
  • The original vision for Walt Disney World was Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. When Walt Disney died, it became a dedication to him, and they built an amazing theme park instead
  • Original concept: monorail travel everywhere, no cars needed, a transportation system owned by EPCOT
  • The PeopleMover: a transportation system that never stops
  • The whole Epcot thing lead to the Reedy Creek Improvement District, which is basically a governing jurisdiction of land that Disney owns. That’s where Walt Disney World is. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reedy_Creek_Improvement_District
  • They are their own government.
  • Nothing is ever out of place. It’s perfect in terms of litter, upkeep, staff smiling and greeting you, everything. Replant flowers every 3 weeks.
  • Immersion. Nobody can leave character, the queues to any of the rides is completely immersive like the new Avatar ride

Interesting Conversations episode 1 is out now!
