- The vast majority of the population avoid learning how to communicate their ideas to an audience. Creatives included.
- People avoid it for the same reasons they avoid most things: it scares them, or it challenges them.
- You’ll never regret learning to present your ideas to an audience effectively and with confidence.
- It is a universal skill that you will use over and over throughout your career and others.
- You will appear more confident, more capable to others, and just better at your job by prioritising this skill.
- I genuinely believe to be the best at your job, not just as a creative, you need to learn to be a good communicator to an audience. I don’t see this as an optional skill.
- How do you learn? You learn by doing. At first, it’s going to be really scary to present to an audience. It was for me.
- Study presentation skills. They can be learned. They don’t happen by accident. Study stand up comedians and politicians.
- Find a local meetup, conference, or something like @bettakultcha or Pecha Kucha near you to try out your ideas and techniques in a safe environment.
- Make it a priority in your life to learn to be a good orator. You can learn it, and you won’t regret it. Introvert or Extrovert doesn’t come into this.
- Interesting Conversations episode 2 is out now!
