When it comes to marketing yourself we always get told to just "be ourselves”. But what does that mean? 

  • Be authentically you. I hate that phrase.
  • What’s that mean though really? It’s a cliche, but it has some truth to it.
  • I call it something else: embracing your weirdness.
  • Ever since I started podcasting I’ve gone through stages of me trying to discover…me.
  • When I first started podcasting, I was very formal. Then I went weird, got bored, and just returned to my normal me.
  • It’s surprisingly difficult to be yourself in marketing, and when producing content. We’re always told to be professional. Don’t swear. Don’t do this. Don’t do that.
  • We spend a surprising amount of our time trying to please others by being something else. Stop it. Just embrace your weirdness.
