Do you want to create a Workplace Wellbeing Program that “Works Well for Beings”?
Are you a WHS or HSE professional who’s lost or been robbed of your ‘H’?
Merv Neal challenges us to have REAL and relevant ‘H’ conversations. He also shares 7 areas of Workplace Health for individuals as well as organisations and how we can make them fit through a Workplace Wellbeing Program that doesn’t cost a lot of money. Merv also sheds light on how we can set a new benchmark of sickness and health in the workplace.
Today I’m talking to Merv Neil who is passionate about laughter and giving back to humanity. Following a work-related life threatening health issue in 2002, Merv found out first-hand the importance of Being Well, or Wellbeing, at work. As Director of Holistic Services Group and the CEO of Laughter Yoga Australia and New Zealand, he travels the world speaking to a variety of groups about the importance of looking after your emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health at work, and at home.
ARE YOUR SICK, NOT SICK/NOT HEALTHY OR HEALTHY? Merv offers a fresh perspective on what ‘Healthy’ actually means: “NOT SICK means you’re NOT HEALTHY. It’s the middle ground the 5 out of 10 with 0 being sick as a dog and 10 being optimal health. Too often we aim for NOT SICK meaning we don’t experience any ailments or symptoms, BUT when life knocks us down, which it inevitably will, it means we fall below 5 and into SICKNESS… Many argue that they don’t have time for health habits, but if we don’t make time for health then eventually we’ll have to make time for sickness”.
