We've all heard of the Salem Witch Trials, the deadliest witchhunt in colonial North America... but few have heard of the Witch Trials of Winnsboro, South Carolina.
It was 1792, exactly 100 years after the Salem Witch Trials, and something mysterious and malicious was brewing down South. Cows were dying, people were levitating and others were being transformed into animals without their consent.
The townspeople of Winnsboro, South Carolina, was certain that their small farming community was being destroyed by a WITCH.
77 year-old Mary Ingleman was the first to be accused... by her very own son. What then followed was numerous other accusations and a horrific trial held illegally by the townspeople at the farm of Thomas Hill.
What ensued was a horrific example of falsely accused witches and wrongful convictions and treatment of innocent souls. But it did leave us wondering... is the devil hot? Like, he for sure has chiseled abs and somehow always appears to be doused in baby oil, right?
