When we talk about employee communications, the line between internal and external comms becomes more and more blurry. It’s not black and white: these people are employees and these are not. Some HR people or lawyers may argue that you can’t communicate on a regular basis with people who are not full-time employees. Brad takes a counterpoint and says you cannot afford not to communicate with them.
There are many flavors to our audiences and we as communicators should be aware of them. Contractors, consultants, partners — none of them are technically your employees, yet they need as much if not more information coming their way than the traditional employee audience.
