As always, I'm your host Dane (), and you can find me on IG @Englishwithdane* Today's episode is a special one, not just because it's the first episode of season 2, but because it is an accent challenge! A lot of you have reached out, asking for another accent challenge, so here it is. This one is a bit different from the other accent challenges that I've done in the past because these are all clips from famous movies. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this type of episode, what I like to do is play a few clips that feature different accents from around the world, and give you the opportunity to guess where each accent is from. Chances are you've seen these movies… whether you've seen them in English or not is a different question. Let's just start the show and we'll figure it out as we go along. So, you are listening to the first episode of season 2 of *English with Dane*. Hit it! Ok, we have officially started the show, so let's get into it. Like I mentioned, each of these clips features a well-known actor or actress putting on a specific accent from a different part of the world. All speaking English of course. What's interesting is that none of these actors actually speak like this in real life. They are imitating different accents from around the world. I thought this would be a cool way to do it, because often times when we imitate or put on accents, we choose the most recognizable, the most characteristic parts of the accent to make it credible. Some of these are supposed to be really good and some are just ok. I'll tell you a little bit about each one after I reveal the answers. If you know what movie each clip is from, I'm sure it will be easier for you to guess correctly. Extra points I guess if you can guess the movie as well. So, let's start. I have 8 different clips, and I'm going to play each one twice and then give you a second to write down where you think the accent is from. I suggest that you write down each guess on a piece of paper, or open the notes app on your phone, in order to keep track of your answers. Some of these are easier than others so don't get demoralized, don't get discouraged if you have a hard time. Distinguishing accents can be pretty tricky. Ok. Here we go.
