Description: The stage of a rectal carcinoma represents the most important prognostic factor regarding the probability of survival. The doctors’ discipline with rectal-digital examination is still quite weak. Socioeconomic and marital status and the quality of first consultation are correlated with delayed start of therapy. In a retrospective study we compared the doctors’ discipline with rectal-digital examination of patients with rectal carcinoma at the first consultation and documented the patients taking part in preventive medical examination programs.
