Description:

After reading this week’s posted content and listening to this week’s episode of the Fly on the Wall Project, carefully consider the following questions and choose one to answer in its entirety.

Each question may be answered by only 3 students. It is your responsibility to check all posts and select a question which has not already been answered by 3 of your peers. Please include the number of the question you are answering in the subject line of your post so the rest of the class may easily identify which questions have been answered.

Remember, you must have reviewed the week’s content in order to adequately participate in the Discussion Forum. In your post, incorporate the content into your response where applicable, and consider the principles of the Community Support System (CSS) model (e.g. flexibility; special needs, such as jail diversion; accountability; coordination) and the functions of Case Management (i.e. assessment, planning, linking, monitoring, evaluating) when posting your response.

Your initial response is due by end of the day Thurs 10/6/16.

Comments to at least two of your classmates due by end of the day Sunday 10/9/16.

  1. Give your thoughts on Derek’s recap of Michela’s Social Security appointment. Is she still in the Contemplation stage? What should happen next in the Social Security application process for her?
  2. Is George eligible for General Assistance? Research Interim Assistance and give your reasons why or why not based on the info that was provided. If approved, how much money should George receive?
  3. Should either or both Bianca and Mick seek government assistance (from the federal or county entities) with food?  Does it matter whether they have applied in the past?  How should they apply / is there a way you could help them?  For how much assistance in terms of dollars might they be eligible to receive?
  4. How might Bianca and Mick immediately and/or regularly access food (besides applying for benefits)?  Are they eligible to obtain goods from the local Food Bank?  Must they prove they are in need?  Is whether or not they applied to receive or are actually receiving SNAP benefits a factor?
