Description: Kevin Brownlow is a film historian who focuses in particular on silent movies. He has written a number of books, including The Parade's Gone By (University of California Press, 1968), Hollywood – The Pioneers (Knopf, 1980). He started restoration of Napoleon by Abel Gance in 1968 and presented a third restored version of the film in 2000. In addition, he has made a number of documentaries on cinema and received an honorary Oscar in 2011 for his work.
