As far as campaign blunders go – it was a doozy. Anthony Albanese's failure to cite the most important economic numbers dominated the opening days of the contest – and rattled the nerves of many on the Labor side. The Prime Minister – by contrast – shifted easily back into campaign mode – accepting he may not be popular – but urging voters to stick with the devil they know. By the end of the week – however – it was Scott Morrison on the defensive over his captain's pick candidate – who's been forced to apologise – repeatedly – for offensive views on the trans gender community. The policy offerings in week one – were modest at best. Both sides have instead gone negative, early. |
