On Monday Canada's premiers called for new and sustainable healthcare funding partnership with the federal government through the Canada Health Transfer. - Meanwhile the Canadian Medical Association alerts: "Critical family physician shortage must be addressed." Some 4.8 million Canadians have no family doctor.

Food insecurity in Canada. Almost 6 million Canadians living in food insecurity, including 1.4 million children last year. And today? - It's income and not cost of food which is the greater problem says our guest. - Also says food banks are not the solution to the greater issue of food insecurity.

Guest: Professor Valerie Tarasuk. Department of Nutritional Sciences, University of Toronto and lead investigator for PROOF, a research program which studies household food insecurity across Canada.

State of readiness of the CAF as the threat to Canada's claims of Arctic sovereignty will likely be tested. - Also CAF nowhere near its personnel requirements. - Our military hardware is insufficient, old and not what CAF members need to defend Canada and/or project military strength through our NATO alliance. - The PBO projects cost for Canada's 15 new warships to be $88 billion. Last year's estimate was $77 billion. Fedgov set budgeted for $60 billion. - We're woefully behind in our NATO commitments and being held to account by NATO and the U.S.- As well, the level of international threat. Putin this week watched his nuclear forces drill for the first time since the Ukraine invasion. Now says he won't need to use nukes.

RCMP investigating 3 reported Chinese police stations in Canada. China has a history of kidnapping individuals it wants to subjected to the country's justice system.

Guest: Peter Humphrey. Former Reuters journalist, then owner of a corporate risk assessment firm in China. Arrested with his wife, imprisoned, faced a series of bogus charges, held in terrible conditions for 23 months before being deported to the U.K. after major international pressure. China's external TV station just find 100,000 British pounds for airing a forced confession by Humphrey.
