A little while ago, we did a show about fairytales, and how Disney has a talent of retelling these ancient tales that were passed from generation to generation. They take these stories and Disney-fy them for kids. These stories were not made for kids though...they were dark, full of deception and death. These stories are often more complex than folk lore, and have a lesson for us to learn.
Disney makes all the women and their true loves heroes. The women are delicate but strong, and the men are valiant and brave. They somehow make it through insurmountable odds to save the world against evil. They defeat the bad guys, take their thrones, and live happily ever after in castles with their woodland friends.
The lessons that the Disney versions tell us are still there, but some have changed from the original version. So gather around friends...its time for another story.
