In the article, Dr. McLennan shares the story of Johnny, who is not a real patient, but rather a composite of many autistic patients he has encountered over the years. Dr. McLennan is a child psychiatry consultant at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and research chair in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Ottawa.
