This episode is a rather classic “Mental Meltdown Moment” story!
Just so you don’t think that choking away a tennis match is reserved just for us mere mortals, in the “MMM” series, we get to hear stories from former pro tour greats who actually found a way to let one of their matches slip away.
Call it a choke, a gag, whatever, it happens to ALL of us ...
In this interview, you get to meet Sharon Walsh who is one very funny lady. Her “MMM” is a classic. 1st round match on center court at Wimbledon against the great Billie Jean King. What could go wrong?
Plenty ;-)
Sharon lets us in on some pretty hilarious stuff and then gives us some pearls of wisdom for mental toughness that we can use in our matches to help us minimize the good ‘ol choke response ;-)
Sharon obviously did not let this ‘MMM’ derail her career.
She reached the Australian Open women’s singles final, won a WTA singles event, and won 30, that’s right - 30, WTA doubles titles in her very solid pro career.
You can find out more about Sharon’s prolific 21 year pro tour career over at Wikipedia at

If you’re ever in the Palm Springs, CA area and have time for a coaching session with Sharon at the Mission Hills CC in Rancho Mirage, I’m telling you, you’ll come away a better player.
You can contact Sharon at the MHCC tennis office at 760-328-5800.
