Description: SHOW NOTES KEY IDEAS:  Our guest today is in a new phase of life.  Chris Schuler decided to become an entrepreneur when he realized one day that living his life just to he could go out later and party was not fulfilling.  So, he decided to do something with purpose, something for himself. Chris looked around at his competition, and he wondered how he could give himself a leg up in business.  He likes to work outdoors and enjoys creating things.  So, he decided on horticulture.  He enrolled in school and got his associates degree.  Along the way he learned about business.  When he was ready he had a compelling reason for customers to hire him above most of his competition. ADVICE FROM CHRIS: LOW: Chris says to keep overhead low.  This gives you more room to maneuver and adjust as the unexpected happens. EXPERTISE: Chris says to stay within your expertise.  If you try to learn about something new while you are on the job you might end up losing money while you learn.  Wait until your business is ready to delve into something that you know nothing about. BEST BUSINESS ADVICE CHRIS HAS RECEIVED: MONEY: "Never Say No To Money".  Obviously there are times that you will say "no".  But if somebody wants to tip you for a job well done or pay you a wage that you did not expect, do not turn it down. GOD: "Put Your Faith In God".  Chris told me that being a Christian has been a very significant part of his journey and he would be remiss to not include that. PERSONAL HABIT THAT HELPS CHRIS SUCCEED: DIRT: Chris understands dirt.  It is his habit to be able to look at dirt and know what kind of plant life it will support.
