Royce Simmons is closing in on completing his annual fundraiser walk from Dubbo to Bathurst.
Over the past 12 days, the former Penrith hooker has walked 313 kilometres from Dubbo to Bathurst, raising funds for dementia research and supporting local junior Rugby League clubs.
Ahead of the final leg, the 62 year old opened up about this year's successful campaign, and hinted that it will probably return next year.
“The plan is to do it every year until my health gets to an area where I can’t do it” Royce said.
“For however long I can, I’ll keep walking and keep trying to do something because dementia is the biggest killer of women in the world, so we’ve got to cure this”.
The Big Marn was left in tears at the end of the interview, when reflecting on Royce Simmons’ courageous effort. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. |
