Matthew Layton presents Studio 1 - Vision Australia Radio’s weekly look at life from a low vision and blind point of view.
On this week’s show…
“We are an equal opportunities employer.... Please attach a copy of your driving license.”
Matthew speaks to doting fiancee, Library Studies master’s graduate and, as of today, former Vision Australia Trainee Library Officer Caren Burns.
In March, the last time we spoke to Caren, she was planning to go to the Philippines to buy her wedding dress.
For obvious reasons that didn’t quite go according to plan.
Matthew talks to Caren about her wedding plans and about how it feels to be facing unemployment in uncertain times as a blind person.
Her positivity is humbling.
So, to balance that out, Matthew and the show’s Mental Health and Safety Manager Tammey Candeloro have a chat about what it’s like to be unemployed when you can’t see very much or, indeed, nothing at all.
