Matthew Layton and Sam Rickard present Studio 1 - Vision Australia Radio’s weekly look at life from a low vision and blind point of view.
This week:
Dave Steele - also known as The Blind Poet - tells us his story.
In 2013 Dave suddenly lost the majority of his sight.
As if that weren’t bad enough, as a result, he lost his independence and his mobility, his job and his home.
But eight years on, Dave is a transformed man, reinvigorated with drive and purpose, a writer with five published books to his name, helping others to overcome similar challenges to his own - all through the power of poetry.
Grab yourself a stiff drink and a hanky for this one. You might just need them both! -- If you’ve been affected by any of the issues in this week’s show - or if there’s something you feel we need to talk about on future shows, please do get in touch.
