Category: Society & Culture
Duration: 00:33:14

Description:

Matthew Layton and Sam Rickard present Studio 1 - Vision Australia Radio’s weekly look at life from a low vision and blind point of view.

This week:

The Blind Cricket Commentator.

We cross to Harare in Zimbabwe to talk to Dean du Plessis, the world’s only blind cricket commentator.

As well as telling us how he commentates using the sounds picked up through stump mics, Dean talks growing up in Zimbabwe, being sent to boarding school at the age of three, his love of Def Leppard and the inevitability of tequila.

If you’ve been affected by any of the issues discussed in this episode of Studio 1 or if there’s something you think we need to be talking about, please get in touch with the show. You never know, your story and your insight may help somebody else who is dealing with something similar.
