Thai LGBTI community members as well as their heterosexual counterparts share thoughts on the proposed ‘civil union’ bill recently approved by the Thai cabinet on 25 December 2018. If the bill is legislated, it will allow homosexual couples rights to medical decision-making, corpse management, criminal case representation, negligence compensation, asset management and inheritance. However, some rights such as those involving adoption, name salutation, surname adoption and government welfare benefits are not covered by this bill.

ความคิดเห็นชุมชนไทยทั้งชาวรักร่วมเพศ หรือ LGBTI+ และรักต่างเพศ ต่อร่างพระราชบัญญัติคู่ชีวิตที่คณะรัฐมนตรีไทยเห็นชอบเมื่อวันที่ 25 ธ.ค. และส่งต่อไปยังฝ่ายนิติบัญญัติ ซึ่งจะให้สิทธิกับคู่รักเพศเดียวกันในการยินยอมรักษาพยาบาล อำนาจจัดการศพ การดำเนินคดีอาญาแทน สินไหมทดแทนจากการขาดไร้อุปการะ การจัดการทรัพย์สิน และการรับมรดก ทว่าจะไม่ครอบคลุมถึงสิทธิอื่นๆ เช่นการรับบุตรบุญธรรม การเปลี่ยนคำนำหน้านาม การเปลี่ยนชื่อสกุล หรือการได้รับสวัสดิการจากรัฐ
