You know those little classifications that pop up that beginning of movies and TV shows, like ‘V’ for violence, ‘D’ for drug use, or ’N’ for nudity?
What if there was also a ‘C’ … for Lack of Consent?
Some of your favourite films and shows would earn a ‘C’ classification. Star Wars, Bridgerton, Friends, even Disney cartoons like Sleeping Beauty.
Right now in Australia, one not-for-profit organisation, Consent Labs, is fighting for exactly this. Because, they say, if lack of consent is the norm on our screens it becomes the norm in real life.
