	Description:		After a reign lasting 70 years, Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at her Balmoral estate in Scotland on Thursday. She was 96. The Queen was many things to many people. A monarch, a mother, a head of state, a wife, a global icon whose influence reached far beyond the Commonwealth. If her reign was characterised by strength, stoicism, and duty, her death will be remembered as a deeply personal loss. She is succeeded by her eldest son Charles, who now becomes King Charles III, at a time of intense political and economic change in Britain.
