The Medicare system was brought in back in 1984, and since then the system has not changed to meet the country's needs to now. 

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners has been pushing for reform to modernise the system.

President for the RACGP Dr. Nicola Higgins joins John Stanley to share their view on the areas of Medicare which need to be upgraded. 

"We need to really improve how we fund GP's,

"What we don't want is a fragment of care," says Dr Higgins.
