In episode #75, Mel and Trish were excited to chat to author and science journalist Marta Zaraska all the way from France about her latest book, Growing Young – How Friendship, Optimism and Kindness Can Help You Live to 100. Marta’s articles have been published in a variety of journals and magazines, her books have been turned into TV programs, she has given a TEDx Talk and been featured as an expert in several documentary films. Marta and the girls unpack the three key elements of friendship, optimism and kindness and the role they play in helping us live longer. It’s an interesting move away from the modern-day hyper-focus on diet, lifestyle and exercise and a move towards a more simplified humanitarian and altruistic approach to life demonstrated beautifully in countries like Japan.
Marta is a super smart girl whose book is full of research, some of which she was the ginea pig herself, having her brain chemicals mapped. But the best thing? Her suggestions are easy to incorporate into our every day lives. It’s simple, but it works.
Enjoy the intelligence and knowledge of Marta Zaraska.
