Description: Low wages, outsourcing and sub contracting are a scourge for workers all around the world with companies using these methods to 1) increase profits and 2) cut costs by shifting responsibity and dangers to workers.South Korea is no different in a part of the world where governments like Japan, China and Taiwan are trying to help their respective capitalists by keeping workers as un-organised as possible. The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) has been engaged in an increasingly bitter and wide ranging confrontation against the South Korean government and companies to try and inprove workers conditions.APC interviewed Mikyung Ryu, the International Relation Director of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) on which sectors of workers where more affected, what are the main demands by workers, and the overall political situation. Asia Pacific Currents provides updates of labour struggles and campaigns from the Asia Pacific region. It is produced by Australia Asia Worker Links, in the studio of 3CR Radio in Melbourne, Australia
