Description: Welcome back to Not Your Basic Influencers Podcast! Elyce and Leah here, two (kinda) basic women and licensed mental health professionals influencing you on the sh*t that really matters. In this episode, we talk to Crystal Anthony about gang violence, human trafficking and generational trauma. Crystal shares her insights about the juvenile justice system and how the system itself including gaps in services make it difficult for youth and vulnerable communities to rehabilitate and continue to perpetuate the criminalization of marginalized communities. Crystal describes the efforts she and her colleague have made to advocate for underserved populations and the trauma-based work and therapy that she provides to youth and their families. Crystal Anthony is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and is a highly esteemed person in the juvenile justice system in both San Diego County and Orange County. She has extensive experience working with youth and young adults that have been involved with human trafficking. She is the co-executive director of Underground GRIT. Crystal has been awarded for her work in human trafficking and advocacy efforts in the community, as well as for her collaborative efforts in the juvenile justice system.
