Episode 007 of the Former Action Guys Podcast features Marine Corps Radio Operator and 1st ANGLICO Alum, Sgt Andrew Dimauro.
Beginning this episode, we discuss Andrew’s communications training and how he ended up at 1st ANGLICO where he was assigned to a team for the upcoming 1st ANGLICO deployment to Afghanistan. Andrew details training events like Joint Warrior, an exercise in Scotland that allows 1st ANGLICO and the UK’s 148 Battery to work together while conducting fire support training, and the other pre-deployment training he conducted prior to deploying to Afghanistan.
Later, we discuss Andrew coming home and his attempt to head back to Afghanistan with a team supporting the Georgian Military. Andrew describes the Georgian Liaison Team training he received and the difficulties that come with working alongside our foreign partners. He also breaks down the deployment and discusses different missions he was apart of, including a recovery mission for an American KIA.
Following that deployment, Andrew returns to 1st ANGLICO and is assigned to what would be my team later, SALT D. He discusses going to jump school and we talk about our work up for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) along with the following deployment.
