Out of the darkness and into the light, Golan Zocher, Gux Jimenez and Mango build a stratified sonic masterpiece from “Only a Shadow”. Subtle organic layers amble through a forest of percussive saplings that sit beneath a towering beat and subterranean groove. Emerging in the dappled moonlit shadows, evocative motifs create an eerie atmosphere before a bassline force springs from the undergrowth and into the open, prowling beneath luscious melody. Harnessing familiar energies from the darkness, Dowden hypnotises with a new poise and grace. “Only a Shadow” forms in the twilight as white noise crashes in pulsating waves. A mesmerising bassline hits the Toronto streets where it forges a path through pinpricks of melodic light and a seething, rolling rhythmic groove. A pioneering sonic architecture is forged from exquisite St Petersburg and Sao Paulo landscapes.
