Inspired by Caroline Criado Perez’s book
Invisible Women, Tom Whalley and new co-host Lizzy Banks (Bigla Pro Cycling) ask how data bias is present in cycling.
They hear from Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio about a fundamental UCI rule that she believes is based on data solely from male riders, and Liz Colebrook, one of the few female frame builders in the UK, who says that cycling design not only ignores women but other “outliers” too.
Also on the show is Ben Watson, a para-cyclist with Team GB, who won gold at his race at the World Championships in Harrogate. He tells us about the adaptations that help him get the best out of his performance and the other innovative ways that equipment is modified by para-athletes.
