Category: Religion & Spirituality
Duration: 00:42:30
Publish Date: 2021-11-04 05:00:00
Description:

Jen Wilkin, JT English, and Kyle Worley look at Romans 5:12-21 and discuss the Adam-Christ Typology.

Questions Covered in This Episode:

  • Is Paul saying that the world is broken because one person sinned?
  • Is Paul saying Adam sinned, I sinned, or we all sinned?
  • Isn’t that unfair: That Adam’s sin is counted as our sin?
  • What does it mean that sin is not counted where there is no law?
  • Who is Adam a type of?
  • How is the free gift different from the trespass?
  • There is lots of “reigning” language in this passage isn’t there?
  • “So one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.” (V. 18) Does this mean that all of humanity is gifted justification?
  • How would you paraphrase this phrase: “Now the law came in to increase the trespass”?

Helpful Definitions:

  • Federal Headship: There are two humanities, those in Adam and those in Christ. You are either represented by Adam and his sinfulness or by Christ and his righteousness.
  • Christology: Doctrine of Christ
  • Typology: A shadow/picture of what is to come.
  • Adam-Christ Typology: In Adam we see a shadow of the ultimate picture of fulfillment we see in Christ.
