Description: FRISCO, Texas North Dakota State running back Kobe Johnson said he's ready to go for the national championship game after injuring his finger during the NCAA Division I FCS semifinals.

Johnson injured his right pinkie with less than five minutes to play against Incarnate Word and didn't return. The Bison held off the Cardinals for a 35-32 victory.

“It was a scary moment at first," Johnson said.

The Bison (12-2) play South Dakota State (13-1) at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, for the FCS championship at Toyota Stadium.

The 5-foot-9, 188-pound Johnson rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns on 15 attempts in the semifinals before the finger injury.

NDSU running back TaMerik Williams and wide receiver RaJa Nelson both missed the FCS semifinals after suffering lower-leg injuries in the quarterfinals against Samford. Johnson said he expects both Williams and Nelson to return for the national championship game.

“When we can get guys back, it’s always a great thing," Johnson said. "You can do a lot more offensively when you have more of your weapons back on the field. ... Having TaMerik back (will) add depth to the run game, getting RaJa back as well."

The Bison face an SDSU defense that is limiting opponents to 15.4 points per game.

“They play as a unit. They play as a team," Johnson said of the Jackrabbits defense. "They’re not going to make a lot of mistakes. When you are playing a disciplined team like that, you’re going to have to play disciplined yourself.”
