Description:

Do you suffer from migraines?  This is Judy Gaman and this is your Stay Young medical minute.  Migraines affect nearly one billion people worldwide.  Not only are they characterized as severe headaches, but they also often cause nausea and sensitivity to light and sound.  A study published in the American Journal of Medicine found that caffeine intake may increase migraine headache risk.  Researchers studied the habits of 98 adults prone to chronic migraines.  Participants who consumed 3 or more caffeinated beverages a day were more likely to develop a migraine within 24 hours.  Unfortunately, because caffeine amount varies drink to drink, more research will need to be completed to properly quantify the amount needed to increase migraine risk.  This Stay Young Medical Minute is brought to you by Executive Medicine of Texas, a leader in preventative and proactive medicine.
