Worldliness, says Dr. Lloyd-Jones, is when we allow things that are good in and of themselves to occupy too big of a part in our lives. Dr. Lloyd-Jones says that this happens when we take our walk with Christ and don’t allow it to overlap with the other areas of our lives. We must realize that being a follower of Jesus means that we follow his instruction for every action, thought, and desire we have. How can we prevent falling into the trap of worldliness? First, we must remember that our salvation is not just to save us in eternity, but is also to save us from our sin now and deliver us from the present evil. Second, we must be cautious of any hint of sin— we are to run from the scent of it at all costs. At times, it can seem like an impossible task. Yet, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones reminds us that we are called to stand strong in the Lord and the power of his might. Jesus has overcome Satan, and we can do the same because he is alive in the lives of those who believe in him!
